Robert Jerry Lanier Jr. (September 10, 1948 – May 10, 2022) was an American professional basketball player. He played center for the Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Lanier was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992.

Mierzący 211 cm wzrostu koszykarz do NBA został wybrany z numerem 1. w drafcie w 1970 przez Detroit Pistons i w tym klubie spędził niemal dekadę (1970-1980). Był zawodnikiem także City Bucks (1980–1984). W pierwszym sezonie disturb został wybrany do piątki debiutantów sezonu. Był jednym z lepszych centrów bend 70., karierę zakończył z dorobkiem 19 248 punktów i 9698 zbiórek.

Robert Clayton Lanier (March 10, 1925 – December 20, 2014) was an American businessman and politician. He served as the mayor of the city of Houston, Texas, from 1992 to 1998. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living mayor in Houston.
