    University of Connecticut President Radenka Maric this week named longtime UConn faculty member and interim provost Anne D’Alleva to the post of permanent provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.

    D’Alleva, who had been interim provost since the spring, previously was dean of the School of Fine Arts and has been a UConn faculty member since 1999. The 58-year-old became interim provost in May following the departure of then-Provost Carl Lejuez.

    Maric said D’Alleva will play a major role in UConn’s work in areas such as climate change and clean energy, human rights, cybersecurity, computer science and health sciences, among others.

    In her role, D’Alleva will oversee UConn’s 14 colleges and schools and four regional campuses, among other responsibilities.

    The provost’s office, Maric said, also leads UConn’s strategic planning, academic policies and procedures, global affairs, institutional research and university libraries.
